Thrillist Names Tucson’s Young Donuts Best Donut Shop in Arizona

Oct 26, 20151 min read

In their “Best Donuts In All 50 States” roundup, Thrillist named Young Donuts on Kolb Road the best donut shop in all of Arizona.

Tell us something we don’t already know, Thrillist. In our 6 Great Tucson Doughnut Dives feature, we recommended the Buttermilk Glazed and stand by that referral.

They applauded owners and siblings Sophy and Keng Se for the success of their young shop, which is only four years old. Perhaps this is the same age as their clientele? Author Kristin Hunt has an interesting theory:

“Maybe it’s because they strategically opened next to a children’s dentist office to hook their clients young, and holy shit… that might be where the name comes from.”

Young Donuts is located at 1023 N Kolb Road.

Customers can stop in between now and Saturday for one last meal. The team plans to sell down its inventory, though it hopes to have favorite dishes available. Regular hours remain 9am-3pm through the final day.

“Running this kitchen has been a labor of love, but the numbers just aren’t adding up anymore, and as parents, we have to make the hard choice to step back and take care of what matters most at home.”
