Tucson Tamale’s BOGO ‘Christmas in July Sale’ on July 31

Jul 26, 20231 min read

Christmas in July. Have you ever wondered how that started? Well, according to legend, Christmas in July was first celebrated in 1933 at a summer camp in Brevard, North Carolina where they dedicate two days (July 24 and 25) to the holiday. They even decked out a tree, threw out some fake snow, and exchanged gifts.

They were missing one thing, though: tamales.

Tucson Tamale has you covered! On, Monday, July 31, the shop at 7286 N. Oracle Rd. will be hosting its second annual Christmas in July Sale. Expect to find a massive Buy-One-Get-One-Free sale on all of their frozen tamales and tortillas for one day only.

Stop by, check out the market, get your holiday fill, and keep in mind that there’s a limit of three free items per person. Plus, it’s the last day (Monday, July 31) for Tucson Tamale’s Buy-Three-Get-One-Free hot sauce sale. If you haven’t seen the famous “Wall of Heat” then you’re in for a spicy treat.

Also, Tucson Tamale has been offering free shipping on all tamales throughout the month of July. The very last day to take hold of the deal is Saturday, July 29 and be sure to use the promo code JULYSALE.

IOU Sushi III has closed. The all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant on North Oracle Road announced the news on Facebook after about 10 years in Tucson. “This is the hardest post I’ve had to write,” the owners said. The post continued, “we have met some great friends who have become family to us.” Tucson Foodie first visited the restaurant in 2017, when it operated as IOU Sushi IV.

Anne Rysdale built @sheltercocktaillounge in 1961 with concrete walls, lava rock, and Cold War nerves. Today, owners Pam Santangelo and Kevin Breutzmann keep the Tucson bar exactly as regulars remember it. Inside, martinis share space with JFK memorabilia, a vintage atomic chandelier, and a suit of armor named Charlie. “Tucson is changing so much, but this has stayed the same. It’s a time capsule,” Santangelo said.
