Tucson spoke out on social media and Blake’s Lotaburger listened. The New Mexico-based burger chain will soon be opening two restaurants right here in the Old Pueblo.

“We pay attention to our fans through social media and in the comments,” said Craig Wood who is the manager of business development at Blake’s Lotaburger. “We make sure we know what our fans are saying. When we decided it was time to move in to Arizona, we had more people asking for us in Tucson than anywhere else. We’ll be bringing our green chile cheeseburger – it’s our staple. We believe from the comments we’ve received it will do very well.”

The green chile burger at Blake’s is topped with a generous dose of Hatch Valley Green Chiles, the bold-flavorful chiles that permeate New Mexican cuisine. In 2006 National Geographic dubbed it “The World’s Best Green Chile Cheeseburger.”

Blake’s Lotaburger also serves up breakfast burritos, hot dogs, frito pie, and more.

Wood said there is no exact date for the two Blake’s Lotaburger joints to open but that the future restaurants under construction at 2810 East Speedway and at the intersection of Valencia Road and Midvale Park Road will open in the next couple months.

“We’re very excited to be in Tucson,” Wood said. And Tucson is excited it won’t have to travel to New Mexico for a green chile burger.
