Oh well, no big surprise here. The Iguana is a great locally owned place putting out top shelf food, but with Tucson being named one of the best food towns in the nation, of course the deep pocket boys from out of town are going to come in and (most likely) bring in an inferior product. The sorriest part is good people are losing their livelihood and Tucsonans are losing a well loved place that is part of their lives. I’m not a big fan of “The Avenue”, but this story tugs at me. I for one, strongly suggest the building owner rethink this move.

This news is sad. They’ve been in that location for such a long time. Near as I could tell, they were still doing decent business. They offered something different, from coffee drinks to candies. Reminds me of when Ike’s Coffee left a midtown location to be replaced by a blase out-of-town sandwich chain. Suddenly people in the neighborhood had no breakfast meeting place. The void still hasn’t been filled and I never see anyone at that sub shop. Karma. Maybe the same happens here.
