The new location is keeping it old school with the recipes.

Legendary local doughnut shop Le Cave’s Bakery & Donuts announced its grand opening at its new location at 3950 E. 22nd St. from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 27.

“We wanted to stay as close to the other location as possible,” said Naomi Pershing, who owns Le Cave’s with her husband Chris. “And [have] a drive-thru and parking.”

The 2,400-square-foot space previously housed fast food restaurant Jack in the Box.

Naomi and Chris updated the space with a modern look in mind, utilizing rolling pins as door handles and butcher block tables. About 18 seats will be available.

The original Le Cave’s Bakery at 1219 S. 6th Ave. operated from 1935, but closed in 2017. The Pershings purchased the business in March, which included the business name and recipes, but not the location.

While the interior at the new location won’t resemble the original Le Cave’s, customers can expect the recipes to remain the same. Some of the culinary staff are coming from the original Le Cave’s as well.

“We want to keep everything the same,” Naomi said. “Depending on how well this location does, we have ambitions to open additional locations.”

The business will operate on limited hours for the first couple of weeks before incorporating the drive-thru and transitioning into full operating hours.

Tentative hours, subject to change, will be 6:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday through Friday for the drive-thru and 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday through Friday for the lobby. Both the drive-thru and lobby will be open from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Sunday and 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturday.
