Tuk Tuk Thai – Thai Street Food is in the process of moving in at 2990 N. Campbell Ave., Suite 130 — just next door to Lovin’ Spoonfuls.

For the last 27 years, Bud Sayso has owned and operated two Khao San locations in Portland, Oregon, and now he’s bringing the same concept to Tucson. The dishes will either be the same or much similar to what you can get at his other restaurants.

One dish that’s he’s particularly excited to share is the Spicy Crispy Chicken Basil.

“In Tucson, you guys are going to go crazy over the Spicy Crispy Chicken Basil,” said Sayso. “That is our signature dish. No one has it, and it’s one of the reasons why I’m opening this restaurant.”

They’re shooting for an August opening date, depending on how the current pandemic pans out over the next few weeks. However, Sayso isn’t opposed to starting out with takeout only.

“To me, this is a great opportunity,” he said. “You know, our food travels well. Here in Portland, we took a dive like everybody else, but as of right now we are doing better than we were with to-go.”

For more information, keep up with Tuk Tuk Thai on Facebook.
