With Earth Day right around the corner, the folks with Yelp have been busy collecting their Top 100 Vegan Restaurants in the U.S. and Canada. To no surprise, a couple of Tucson spots are included in that impressive gathering.
Tumerico is listed as third on the list of 100 spots across the country, and Urban Fresh is their 27th favorite spot to grab a vegan or vegetarian dish.
“We tapped into our data to find the top 100 vegan food in the U.S. and Canada,” said Brittany Smith, Yelp Midwest Regional Lead of Community and Marketing. “From vegan Vietnamese in San Diego to an Ethiopian feast in Orlando, these 100 plant-based restaurants are not just delicious examples of vegan eats, but top restaurants, period.”
The plant-based Mexican restaurant Tumerico is a gold mine for not only local vegetarians but for meat-eaters as well.
Owner and chef Wendy Garcia started her dishes with a food cart and farmers market stand but eventually blossomed into a brick-and-mortar at 2526 E. Sixth St. in 2016. Just a few years later, her second Tumerico location opened its doors at 402 E. Fourth St. She also has a third restaurant under the name of La Chaiteria, which is a cafe and restaurant on Tucson’s west side.

Urban Fresh is a family-run restaurant that prides itself on community, sustainability, nutrition, local, and organic ingredients — everything is made in-house.
The restaurant is located at 73 E. Pennington St. and serves meals that are both affordable and tasty. The crew’s goal is all about providing something that’s really good for the community and something that makes people feel good. Plus, take a gander at their daily lunch specials, which are shared online weekly.
