It’s been eight months since we last made mention of the new restaurant set to occupy the space formerly inhabited by Ten55 Brewing Company, but it’s been well worth the wait.
Blue Front will be opening its doors to the public on Monday, January 16.
Rio Nuevo teamed up with Patricia Schwabe, the operator of Penca Restaurante, Owl’s Club, Tooley’s Cafe, & Peach Properties, for the remodel and management of the former brewery space.
The space actually used to be a fine clothing store in the early 1900s by the same name. Fast forward 100 years, Blue Front is ready and roaring to open its doors in its current iteration as an American dining restaurant.
“Growing up visiting the United States from my home in Mexico, it was always exciting for us to indulge in American food,” said Schwabe. “We looked forward to going to these American restaurants and ordering French fries and milkshakes, so this is a nostalgic project I am proud to work with Rio Nuevo District to bring to life.”
The two-level space, highlighted by a beautiful indoor/outdoor bar and open kitchen on the bottom level, offers an experience for every member of the family. Mosey on up to the bar during your lunch break, catch a game on one of the many TVs available, play some pool upstairs on the second level, or enjoy your meal al fresco on their spacious patio.Â
“I wanted to create something that families can look forward to visiting, with something for everyone,” said Schwabe.
Blue Front will serve their take on classic American dishes, think Meatloaf Sandwich, Fried Okra, Cobb Salad, and much more. There are several vegan options as well.
Try a meatless BLT made with tempeh bacon, heirloom tomato, butter lettuce, and mayo on toasted sourdough, or a Mushroom Cheesesteak with oyster mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, onions, peppers, and cheese sauce on a roll.
End your meal, vegan or otherwise, with a slice of scratch-made pie such as Bourbon Pecan, Chocolate Cream (v), or Spiced Apple and/or an irresistible shake.
The bar menu boasts whimsical craft cocktails inspired by classics.
The Mama Michoacana, a fun take on a Bahama Mama, is pineapple-infused Mexican rum, hibiscus grenadine, fresh orange juice, lime, clement coconut, and rum blend. Their wine list even features a Spanish orange wine!
Beginning Monday, January 16, Blue Front will be open 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. daily, except on Fridays and Saturdays when they’ll stay open until 11 p.m. Happy Hour will run from 3 – 6 p.m. Monday – Friday.
