“We are super excited to be trying out specials more often with our customers.”

The local food truck Fatboy Sandos has been doing big things since its inception in 2022, and now they’re leveling up by opening a second location inside American Eat Co. Beginning on Tuesday, March 14, the Japanese-inspired sandwiches will be served inside the local food hall at 1439 S. Fourth Ave.

Now, this doesn’t mean the truck will no longer be making its rounds. While owner Rafael De La Cuesta is super pumped about the opportunity inside American Eat Co., he also assured that the truck will remain poundin’ the pavement around town.

“The truck is going to stay operating throughout Tucson,” said De La Cuesta. “It’ll just be more toned down to around one to two days a week.”

When it comes to the menu, you can expect the same classics with the return of old favorites like the Ebi (shrimp) Katsu. In addition to that, they’ll also be offering a special breakfast menu on Saturday only when American Eat Co. opens up at 9 a.m.

“With having a more solid home base, we are super excited to be trying out specials more often with our customers,” said De La Cuesta. “Something I’m really excited about is, monthly, I want to have a Japanese A5 Wagyu Sando special! These will of course be purchased and reserved ahead of time each time we have them.”

Inside American Eat Co., Fatboy Sandos will be open from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. on Tuesday – Wednesday, 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Thursday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Saturday with a special breakfast menu, 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. on Sunday, and closed Monday.

And, as mentioned earlier, keep an eye out for the food truck’s schedule since they’ll occasionally be parking and serving sandos around the city.

American Eat Co. is located at 1439 S. Fourth Ave. For more information, follow Fatboy Sandos on Facebook and Instagram. Read our September 2022 article, “Behold the Japanese-inspired sandwiches of Fatboy Sandos.”
