‘El Semental’ Taco Shop, Bakery & Carniceria to Open Soon

December 14, 2023
By Matt Sterner

The north side of town is getting a new Sonoran-style meat market, taco shop, bakery, and candy store combo at 6020 N. Oracle Rd. Super Mercado Y Carniceria El Semental is expected to host its Grand Opening on Saturday, December 16.

If El Semental — meaning stallion or a stud — sounds familiar you’re not losing your marbles because it used to be a food truck stationed on the corner of Fourth Avenue and Ninth Street. That’s the corner across from The Shanty and the new TraXide Taproom. It’s also the corner where the brand-new high-rise apartment building is being, well, built.

El Semental has expanded massively from its food truck days, making way for a full-on store that provides seasonings, ingredients, candy, and baked goods. Plus, you can still get your tacos, Sonoran hot dogs, and other dishes in that realm.

The space used to be a furniture store that’s in the same shopping strip as Guiseppe’s and Putney’s Pitstop Sports Bar and Grill near the corner of Rudasil and Oracle Roads.

The hours of operation have yet to be decided but they’ll be open at 9 a.m. on Saturday, December 16.
