Traveling Thai Street Food Pop-Up is Coming to Caps & Corks

January 10, 2024
By Matt Sterner

The Thai street food pop-up that’s been traveling all around the country for years now is making a pit stop in Tucson. More specifically, Chef Dream Kasestatad of Pranom Pop-Up will be cooking at Caps & Corks from 4 – 8 p.m. (or until they’re sold out) on Monday, January 15.

The Texas-born Chef Dream travels across the U.S. with his pop-up restaurant, serving authentic Thai street food he grew up on, following in the footsteps of his grandmother, Pranom. His grandmother opened a Thai food trailer in Lubbock about 40 years ago, becoming one of the first Thai restaurants in the area. Now, Chef Dream hits the road all year to share family recipes.

Dream said he doesn’t have any plans to open a traditional brick-and-mortar restaurant and prefers to have the freedom to cook wherever he chooses.

The local taproom also gathered up some barrel-aged beers from Modern Times. “We figured this was the perfect time to bust them out,” the team at Caps & Corks shared. They’ll have multiple kegs and bottles available so come thirsty.

“Come join us for an evening of amazing food, beer, and people while having your taste buds blown away,” they added.

You don’t need to buy tickets for the event, which is from 4 – 8 p.m. on Monday, January 15, but get there early because the food tends to sell out quickly. Chances are the food will run out soon before 8 p.m. Also, the menu changes from time to time so you’ll just have to wait until the day of the event to see what Chef Dream is cookin’ up.

Caps & Corks is located at 3830 W. River Rd. For more information, visit capsandcorksaz.com. In 2024, Caps & Corks plans to open its new concept “The Broadway” on Sunshine Mile/Broadway Boulevard. Read the full story.
