Iron chef Tucson - Meet the Chefs 2024

Get ready for a night of food and beer sampling that will have your taste buds screaming for joy! Come out and MEET THE CHEFS as Tucson Chefs showcase their food and culinary skills and be judged to become the 2024 Iron Chef Tucson Competitor. The event will be held in the Tucson Convention Center's Copper Ballroom on Sunday, August 25^th from 4pm - 6pm, and will feature local restaurants and Chefs from around the Tucson Metro area. The Winning Chef will then compete against current two-Time Iron Chef champion Chef Kenneth Foy from Dante’s Fire in the Fall.

@Istanbultucson is expanding to MARANA!

The family-run Turkish restaurant is opening a second location, Istanbul Mediterranean Express, at 5660 W. Cortaro Farms Rd., Suite 100.

The fast-casual concept will feature about 75% of the original menu, plus two exclusive offerings: build-your-own Kumpir, a Turkish stuffed baked potato, and fresh in-house ground doner. The restaurant is currently working through permits and remodeling, with a grand opening date expected to be announced soon.

@Bktacos made @Nytimes’ list of 41 standout Mexican restaurants across the country. Published Aug. 13, the list was compiled by reporters, editors and photographers who spent more than a year traveling the U.S.

BK was the only Tucson restaurant included. Writer Bill Esparza highlighted its combination of Sonora-style carne asada and Sonoran hot dogs, a pairing he noted is distinct to Arizona. Benjamin and Karel Galaz, originally from Nacozari, Sonora, opened the restaurant in 1994.
