Arizona Inn Celebrates 85 Years With New & Classic Menu Items, Prohibition-Inspired Cocktails

Tucson’s historic Arizona Inn is celebrating its 85th year service.

With an updated menu, including dishes that will takes guests all the way to the hotel’s opening day in 1931, guests can look forward to shrimp scampi, vichyssoise, and tiny BLTs served on cheddar-chive biscuits with tomato chili jam and bacon mayo. The Inn’s famous Duck a la Orange has transformed into Duck with Orange Gastrique, with citrus slaw, forbidden rice, and sugar snap pea saute. Additionally, guests can expect to see a lamb t-bone with a North Carolina barbecue sauce.

The menu will also feature vegan and gluten-free choices.

Arizona Inn’s Executive Chef of fifteen years, Sam Allison, is helping guarantee that their restaurant and hotel continues to be a favorite among both Tucsonans and tourists.

As for drinks and cocktails, the Audubon Bar will deliver old-school cocktails with a potential twist. Due to the Prohibition’s end in 1933 in the United States, the Inn will feature a Prohibition-inspired menu.

For social media fans, the Inn is encouraging guests to share past memories and photos on the Arizona Inn Facebook page. Throughout the year, Arizona Inn will choose its favorites and select a winner in December. The winner will receive a complimentary two-night stay with meals included.

Anne Rysdale built @sheltercocktaillounge in 1961 with concrete walls, lava rock, and Cold War nerves. Today, owners Pam Santangelo and Kevin Breutzmann keep the Tucson bar exactly as regulars remember it. Inside, martinis share space with JFK memorabilia, a vintage atomic chandelier, and a suit of armor named Charlie. “Tucson is changing so much, but this has stayed the same. It’s a time capsule,” Santangelo said.
