Contigo Cocina Latina To Close Permanently May 17

May 2, 20151 min read

Latin restaurant Contigo Cocina Latina, located at 1745 E. River Road, announced it will close permanently Sunday, May 17.

In an email newsletter posted to Facebook owner Deborah Tenino wrote:

Dear Friends,

After more than five amazing, wonderful years, Contigo Restaurant will be closing its doors on Sunday, May 17.

While we considered renewing our lease — it will not be easy to leave a place as unique and creative as Contigo — we decided against it. Though leaving is always sad, this will give us more time to spend with family.

We are very grateful to everyone who has supported us and we hope to see you one last time. Reservations are greatly appreciated. To have more time to celebrate with you, we will be open Sunday, May 17 for our final closing night.

You can reach us at 520.299.1730 or at www.eatatcontigo.com. We thank you again for your continued support.

— Deborah Tenino and the Contigo staff

P.S. As they say, when one door closes, another opens. So stay tuned for what happens next!

Tucson Foodie reached out this morning and will update this page if and when we hear more.

For now, best wishes to Deb and current staff.

IOU Sushi III has closed. The all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant on North Oracle Road announced the news on Facebook after about 10 years in Tucson. “This is the hardest post I’ve had to write,” the owners said. The post continued, “we have met some great friends who have become family to us.” Tucson Foodie first visited the restaurant in 2017, when it operated as IOU Sushi IV.

Anne Rysdale built @sheltercocktaillounge in 1961 with concrete walls, lava rock, and Cold War nerves. Today, owners Pam Santangelo and Kevin Breutzmann keep the Tucson bar exactly as regulars remember it. Inside, martinis share space with JFK memorabilia, a vintage atomic chandelier, and a suit of armor named Charlie. “Tucson is changing so much, but this has stayed the same. It’s a time capsule,” Santangelo said.
