We all scream for ice cream sometimes — dogs, too.
The pups have howled and HUB Ice Cream is listening. Throughout the month of March, the ice cream parlor is treating Tucsonans, those just visiting, and dogs with treats and special events during its Dog Days of Spring.

There’s a lot to wag your tails about because HUB Ice Cream will be expanding its dog-friendly treat selection as well as promotions and more, like the Daily Doggo Deal, Pup-ups at the Park, and Yappy Hour.
The new dog treats include Pupsicles (don’t let ’em get brain freeze), Vegan Pupsicles (for those with particular requests), and Bark Bars (bone-shaped dog cookies).
“Pupsicles are not a new thing for us,” said Kristel Johnson, General Manager of HUB Ice Cream. “We have always welcomed dogs into our parlor and are excited to expand our dog-friendly treat offerings during the Dog Days of Spring. We love seeing the entire family, including their dogs, come in and be able to find something to enjoy.”

Dog Days of Spring’s events and promotions
Daily Doggo Deal
It’s BYODog into HUB Ice Cream Parlor every day and anytime you do so during the month of March you’ll receive $1 off an ice cream. Plus, there’s going to be a variety of dog-friendly treats available for purchase.
Pup-up at the Park
Now that the weather is warmin’ up, HUB Ice Cream wants you to enjoy the day at the dog park. Ice cream and dog-friendly treats will be available for purchase from HUB’s vintage ice cream truck at Miko’s Corner Playground at Reid Park on Sunday, March 6 and 20 from 3 – 4 p.m.
Yappy Hour
Here’s another one that’ll get you barking for more. It’s Yappy Hour every Wednesday in March from 5 – 9 p.m. All you need to do is bring in one item from Pima Animal Care Center’s (PACC) donation list and you’ll get a free scoop of ice cream.
Dog-friendly treats will also be available for purchase and half of all proceeds from dog treat sales will go to PACC.

“We are excited to donate and collect supplies for PACC during the Dog Days of Spring,” said Johnson. “They do so much to help our pet community and we want to support their work as they protect, reunite lost pets, and find homes for adoptable animals in our community. Please consider helping out by donating, volunteering, fostering, or adopting today.”
HUB Ice Cream Parlor is located at 245 E. Congress St. For more information, follow HUB Ice Cream on Facebook and Instagram. For more information about Pima Animal Care Center and how to support them, visit webcms.pima.gov.

Matt Sterner
More about MattAt a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.
He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.
If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.
