Tucson food lovers can attend FLAVA Chef Series from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28 at The Carriage House, 125 S. Arizona Ave. This event highlights Arizona’s Black culinary talent, blending chef stories with sample tastings. Attendees can meet chefs, enjoy bites, and join a panel discussion with questions and answers. The event supports community and showcases food culture in downtown Tucson.

Schedule

Here is the event day timeline at The Carriage House:

• 1 p.m. Event starts with sample tastings and a mixer with featured chefs
• 2 p.m. Panel discussion with Q and A on chefs’ journeys and food visions
• 3 p.m. Event concludes for the afternoon

Chef Erisha Green leads King’s Kreations Catering, a woman-owned business serving soulful southern dishes from family recipes. She started her business in August 2022, focusing on flavor and wholesome options for diverse tastes.

Chef Cornelius Poston runs CPs Wings, a veteran-owned spot known for crispy wings with a signature sweet-heat sauce. The business operates as both a food truck and a brick-and-mortar location with a loyal following.

Chef Alejandre Richards owns The Tie Kitchen, where interactive cooking experiences and catering bring fun to food. She is also a media consultant and author of nine cookbooks, blending creativity with community engagement.

Ranchers Rachael Stewart and Jazz represent Stewart Pastures, a women-owned family ranch in Southern Arizona. They produce their own meat and partner with local farms that use natural practices, supporting the regional food economy.

Samples Menu

Guests can taste a curated selection of samples prepared by the chefs and local partners:

Attendees should arrive early as sample quantities are limited and tend to go quickly.

Community and Support

FLAVA is presented by Blax Friday, a community organization that spotlights Black-owned businesses across Arizona. The group aims to build representation and economic opportunities for entrepreneurs. The event partners with Sí Charro, Gastronomic Union of Tucson and Tucson Foodie, reinforcing local connections.
