Guiseppe’s Ristorante Italiano opens a new location at 22nd & Harrison

Mamma mia, it’s a new restaurant alert.

Over on the east side of Tucson, Guiseppe’s Ristorante Italiano opened its doors to the public at 9431 E. 22nd St. #157. The restaurant was open for business early last week but made the official announcement on Friday, May 27.

This is Guiseppe’s second Tucson location, the original location can be found at 6060 N. Oracle Rd., and is equipped with a brand new pizza oven to make its Neapolitan-style pizza pies rise to the occasion.

If you’re familiar with the location on the north side of town, pizzas like the Bianco Pizza — roasted garlic, mozzarella, fontina, parmesan, Proscuitto, and arugula — and the Guiseppe Pizza topped with salami, pepperoni, mozzarella, and basil are making themselves apparent at the east side location, too.

Also, the rest of the Oracle Road menu remains intact, featuring a few plates of pasta like the Penne Sausage — a combination of Guiseppe’s housemade sausage, tossed with tomato sauce, and then baked with mozzarella.

Also, take a gander at the specialty items like the Chicken Marsala and Pollo Bolognese, which is breaded chicken breast blanketed with Proscuitto, mozzarella, and tomato sauce that’s baked with parmesan cheese. There are a few edible items from the ocean, too, like the Grilled Salmon or Clams with Fennel Sausage.

Begin the experience with a soup or salad while you’re at it and grab a glass of wine to make it the perfect Italian journey. Beer and cocktails are also on-hand.

The new restaurant on 22nd Street, along with the Oracle Road location, are open from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. on Sunday – Thursday and 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Friday – Saturday.

Guiseppe’s Ristorante Italiano is located at 9431 E. 22nd St. #157, and the original location can be found at 6060 N. Oracle Rd. For more information, call (520) 771-8359 for the east side restaurant, (520) 505-4187 for the north side restaurant, or visit giuseppesristorante.com.

More about Matt

At a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.

He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.

If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.

“Opening this place feels a little surreal. To now have a space where we can bring together coffee, food, art, booze, and all the weird things we love feels like a reflection of how far we’ve come.” —Tyler Melo
