“HUSH Social Club” bar to open at 22nd & Wilmot

“HUSH Social Club” bar to open at 22nd & Wilmot

Jul 13, 20182 min read

Neighborhood speakeasy HUSH Social Club is poised to open their doors to the public on Saturday, July 14 at 1112 S. Wilmot Rd.

Don’t be fooled by the seemingly lackluster facade — the nondescript entrance is meant to throw off the scent.

HUSH isn’t a typical speakeasy lounge, however — it has a minimal drink menu.

“I wanted this to feel like you’re at my house having a drink,” said Shannon Roberts, owner of HUSH. “No gut wrenching booze here.”

And the “Social Club” part of the name isn’t just because of a social setting — HUSH aims to serve as a social club for social community development, so to say. Inspired by his mother, who he said works tirelessly to help the less fortunate, Roberts plans on giving back to the community and will host HUSH’s first fundraiser on July 20.

The lounge doesn’t feel exactly like a home, but it’s cozy. Guests can sit at the bar top, scarlet red couches, or chic booths refurbished by Roberts. R & B music plays in the background. The walls are currently bare with the promise of local art coming soon.

While HUSH is cozy, please note active wear and street clothes are not permitted.

The menu is carefully being crafted to offer 4 or 5 signature cocktails. One of the tentative cocktails is the Purple Rain ($6), made with vodka, pineapple juice, cranberry juice, and blue curacao.

Locally-sourced spirits and beers are a focus. The well vodka is from the Independent Distillery, but for beers, Barrio Brewing Co., Crooked Tooth Brewing Co., and Uncle Bear’s Brewery are on tap. The selection will change based on member requests.

Guests are welcome to check out the space during the free grand opening event on Saturday, July 14, from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.
