Lindy is returning to Fourth Avenue with “Thunderbacon Burger Co.”

Mark your calendars. Lindon Reilly’s new burger concept Thunderbacon Burger Co. is tentatively set to open August 1 at 621 N. 4th Avenue. The space formerly housed The B-Line.

“Lindy,” as he’s more commonly known, rose to fame with his first burger-focused restaurant, Lindy’s on 4th. Although he hasn’t been involved with the restaurant that bears his namesake for years, he’s still a burger aficionado through and through. But if you’re hopeful for some sort of Lindy’s 2.0, that will not be the case.

“These burgers aren’t going to be that major gut-buster kind of stuff,” said Reilly. “It’ll be more quality over quantity.”

While final details are still being dialed in, Reilly is in numerous discussions with local artisan food producers, including Cafe Francais for Thunderbacon’s hamburger buns and Forbes Meat Co. for an exclusive ground beef grind.

Reilly looked to both new and old sources for inspiration, including the shuttered Tucson burger stand Shari’s Drive-In and Los Angeles’s Tripp Burger.

“It’ll be diner-style burgers,” said Reilly. “And it will be a small and simple menu.”

Guests can expect double patties (combined about 1/3 pound) cooked through with Sonoran-inspired flavor profile and sides served in a fast-casual atmosphere. Thunderbacon Burger Co. will also offer gluten-free options, vegetarian, and vegan, although Reilly cautions that it’s not a vegan kitchen.

A Thunderbacon Burger Co. website, Facebook Page and Instagram are in the works.

IOU Sushi III has closed. The all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant on North Oracle Road announced the news on Facebook after about 10 years in Tucson. “This is the hardest post I’ve had to write,” the owners said. The post continued, “we have met some great friends who have become family to us.” Tucson Foodie first visited the restaurant in 2017, when it operated as IOU Sushi IV.

Anne Rysdale built @sheltercocktaillounge in 1961 with concrete walls, lava rock, and Cold War nerves. Today, owners Pam Santangelo and Kevin Breutzmann keep the Tucson bar exactly as regulars remember it. Inside, martinis share space with JFK memorabilia, a vintage atomic chandelier, and a suit of armor named Charlie. “Tucson is changing so much, but this has stayed the same. It’s a time capsule,” Santangelo said.
