Across the country, Thai restaurants are joining forces to give back to the hospitality industry during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Senae Thai Bistro, which was recently awarded the Thai SELECT USA designation by the Thai Trade Center North America, is participating in the #ThaiFood4Heroes campaign.
So far, Senae Thai Bistro has donated 100 meals to nurses, doctors, hospital technicians, and clean-up crews at Carondelet St. Mary’s hospital.
“As you know, with the recent spike in COVID-19 cases, local hospitals and their staff have been overwhelmed,” said chef and co-owner Dee Buizer. “I’m hoping that they will appreciate this small token of acknowledgment of their efforts and the risks that they are taking to keep us safe.”
St. Mary’s Hospital is the first stop for Buizer and Senae Thai Bistro. The restaurant plans to keep serving its delicious meals to other hospitals as well.
In addition, the downtown restaurant is still open for takeout only from noon – 8 p.m. on Tuesday – Saturday.
The #ThaiFood4Heroes campaign started in New York, California, and Florida with a total of 66 Thai restaurants joining in and donating up nearly 5,000 meals. The program just recently expanded to Arizona and recruited a few Phoenix Thai restaurants, too.
