Come next month, the dining duo, Patrick and Ayana Malarchik, are set to unveil Tandem American Eatery on Tucson’s east side, located at 8864 E. Tanque Verde Rd. The new restaurant is moving into the former Jackson Bar + Eatery space, which is just a few parking spaces away from the new Street Taco & Beer location.

Patrick and Ayana’s culinary journey traces back to their time at Union Public House, where they first met before relocating to Sierra Vista. There, they operated The Outside Inn before launching Tandem Upscale Dining and Lounge in 2019.

“With 20 years of experience cooking in Arizona restaurants, our chef is excited to present his vision to you and all our guests,” the Malarchik’s shared online. “Our caring and committed staff make sure you have a fantastic experience with us serving burgers, sandwiches, pasta, tandem toast, refreshing beverages, beers, wines, and cocktails.”

The wife and husband work well together — just like you’d need to do on a tandem bicycle. Blending fast-casual and full-service elements, the restaurant will offer the choice of counter-ordering for takeout or on-site dining with table service.

What’s to Eat & Drink?

The diverse menu features custom-made burgers, sandwiches, salads, a lobster roll, and a wild mushroom burger. To complement the food, Tandem American Eatery will have 18 beers on tap, a selection of wine, and craft cocktails, along with shareable plates such as loaded fries with braised short rib and baked brie.

Once they’re open, which is expected to be in September, the hours of operation will be 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. on Monday – Saturday and closed on Sunday.
