Monday Munchies: Bacon Loaded Fries at Tandem American Eatery

Dec 15, 20251 min read

Monday Munchies is supported by Botanica.

Some munchies demand excess. Bacon Loaded Fries at Tandem American Eatery answer that call with confidence. The eastside spot at 8864 E. Tanque Verde Rd. builds this dish for people who want richness, salt, and comfort in every bite.

Fries Built for Indulgence

The base starts with hot, crispy fries. The kitchen tops them with diced house-smoked bacon, aged cheddar, scallions, and a generous pour of cheese sauce. Each element pulls its weight.

The bacon brings deep smoke and chew. The aged cheddar adds sharpness. The cheese sauce melts into every corner. The scallions cut through the richness with freshness.

Each forkful lands heavy in the best way. It feels rich without turning greasy. It feels indulgent without becoming sloppy. This is shareable food, but you may not want to share.

Tandem’s Comfort-First Approach

Tandem American Eatery focuses on scratch cooking and familiar flavors. The space feels relaxed and welcoming. The menu leans into American comfort with intention.

These fries fit right in. They work as a starter, a side, or a full commitment. They pair well with burgers, sandwiches, or a cold beer. They also stand strong on their own.

Cafe Francais, the French bakery known for its scratch-made croissants and kouign-amann, is closing for good. Owners Noelle and Daniel Martinez announced the closure on Instagram Wednesday afternoon, ending a seven-year run that began on Tucson’s east side.

“Thank you, Tucson, for one hell of a crazy, amazing, and sometimes terrible 7-year ride. We’ve truly loved it all, the good, the bad, and the difficult.”
