National Pita Day: Pita Jungle to Raise Funds For Nonprofit ‘Waste Not’

March 25, 2025
By Matt Sterner

On Saturday, March 29, Pita Jungle is inviting everyone to get their pita fix while contributing to a good cause in celebration of National Pita Day.

Just like in past years, the all-day promotion will raise money for Arizona non-profit Waste Not, whose mission is creating sustainable food systems that help people and the planet flourish.

“We’re thrilled to once again join forces with Waste Not,” said Bassel Osmani, Co-Founder of Pita Jungle. “In continuation with our multi-year collaboration with Waste Not and thus consolidating our support in aiding the suppression of food insecurity, Pita Jungle commits to contribute proceeds from our National Pita Day promotion to support their meaningful mission.”

Here’s how it works:

For every pita sandwich sold on National Pita Day, Pita Jungle will donate $1 to Waste Not.

“Pita Jungle has been an incredible partner to Waste Not for more than a decade,” said Tonia Smith, Development Manager at Waste Not. “Their support helps ensure that thousands of Arizonans facing hunger receive nourishing meals through our programs.”

This pita day promotion is valid for dine-in guests and takeout orders with pita options including the Mediterranean roasted chicken (shawarma), falafel pita, grilled chicken pita, gyro, Philly chicken pitas, Philly steak pitas, and vegan pita offerings.

“Arizona has the worst overall food waste in the country while nearly one million people in our state experience food insecurity,” Smith added. “Partnerships like this are essential to raising awareness, rescuing more food, and creating a lasting impact for both people and the planet.”

In 2023, Pita Jungle helped raise around $1,800 for Waste Not, and then another $2,500 in 2024. Support the nonprofit on Saturday, March 29 and perhaps this year’s donations will surpass the prior efforts.

Pita Jungle is located at 7090 N. Oracle Rd. #128. For more information, visit pitajungle.com.
