Here’s a look back at what the Tucson Foodie team enjoyed during October!
Not only are these reminders of the dishes we ate, but they can also be a guide for your own decisions on what to eat here in Tucson.

Kin Dee Thai rolled out all the stops for our monthly Foodie Member Mixer this month. They also surprised the team with some extra dishes, including this standout. The green coloring laced throughout the waffle creates this immediate desire to dive right in to see what they taste like. No gimmicks here, these are some of the tastiest waffles I’ve had in town. The fried chicken was delicious and rounded out the whole package for this unique Thai spin on the classic chicken & waffle dish. Had to include the Pandan Crepe Cake here as well. This multi-layered delight is as delicious as it is viral. It’s delicate, decadent, and delicious and should be added to the end of every meal here.
The nostalgic paper wrapping with the elevated burger featuring those amazing Roasted Hatch green chilies make this a real standout at BŌS BURGER. I like a burger with a solid direction in the flavor profile and the Dijon aioli and American cheese all pair excellently together with the Wagyu patty. Fries here are great too, the perfect hot and crispy kind to pair with a side of ketchup.
When the server, unprompted, tells you that you picked their favorite thing on the menu, you’re usually on the right track. I’m a savory breakfast eater and so this dish ticks all the boxes for me. Hash browns are always crispy enough to stand up to the runny egg and smoked gouda cheese sauce, and the 12-hour roasted corned beef brisket is always divine. Try it with my go-to basted eggs!

I've been missing a scratch made bagel with heirloom tomatoes ever since the 2020 glory days when Bernie's Bagels came to the rescue. This is the closest thing I've found since. The crust was shiny and crispy while the inside was chewy - not in a 'ouch my jaw hurts' way but rather a 'wow, this is tender' kind of way. The tomato was as big as the bagel! I can't wait for more bagel pop-ups!
I attended the Queen of Cups wine dinner at Tohono Chul. Every month they put on a really wonderful dinner that they pair with mostly local wines. Chef David started out the gate strong with this roasted Branzino dish paired with a QoC white. The skin was crisped to perfection, it was one of the best bites I had all week! While this dish may not typically be available at the Bistro, if you're looking for inventive, masterfully paired dishes I really recommend checking out their monthly dinners.
The Pad Kee Mao with chicken dish at Kin Dee brings the perfect amount of heat, though you can add more chili oil if you need some more spice in your life. It's a wonderfully comforting dish with enough veggies that you don't feel sluggish afterwards.
I love that you can get Knellers for dinner now! Some days you just need a 7pm Matzo Ball Soup and an appetizing board with all the fixings. Not pictured is the Italian Beef sandwich and carrot cake we inhaled.

The Tofu and Vegetable Chow Fun dish is vegan as-is! I love the tofu's firm texture and how flavorful the noodles are. It’s one of the dishes I crave every single day.

I ordered this just because I was craving a BLT, but the ratios and textures were perfect for my taste. It doesn't deviate much aside from the chipotle mayo, but the quality components, such as Barrio Bread, really helps elevate it. I can see myself craving this often now.
I ordered the full selection of chef's choices nigiri and loved the seared salmon and citrus hamachi. I ultimately chose the salmon as the favorite thanks to its thin, fragrant charred lemon that didn't overpower the bite.
I was lightly skeptical when Addie called it the best French toast she ever had, but I tried it and agree. The house-made milk bread makes a difference.
The smoked prime rib dip on their pillow soft house bread dipped in a complex, slightly tangy jus augmented with giardiniera brine and corned beef brine. I sipped all of the remaining jus from the bowl like soup.
A new offering at Noodleholics, this aromatic noodle soup has layered spice and umami. It might not end up on the menu for long, so try it while you can. And it comes with a free iced tea.
A classic done well. Or in this case, medium rare with garlic potatoes and charred broccolini.
