With three locations in Arizona, Bisbee Breakfast Club will open another two restaurants in Tucson this year, for a total of five restaurants in the state.
The first is scheduled to open in the beginning of June at 4811 E. Sunrise Drive in the building of a former gas station.
Following the Sunrise opening, the restaurant will open a third Tucson location in late August or September, at 2936 E. Broadway Boulevard and will be the largest space of all five locations.
Bisbee Breakfast Club owner and chef Terry Kyte said they decided to expand further into Tucson for several reasons.
“The Ina location was very much an experiment to see how the restaurant would translate outside of Bisbee,” Kyte said. “I suppose at this point, we’re willing to call the experiment a success and continue to grow wherever we can.”
Kyte said customers were driving from other parts of town and asking for locations closer to home.
“We’ve had our eyes open for locations for a while now,” Kyte said. “We came across two locations that we couldn’t pass up, as far as the area of town, as well as the buildings themselves.”
When choosing the building of a gas station, Kyte thought the space would nicely lend itself to a patio.
The menus for both restaurants will be similar to the current menus at existing locations, but don’t be surprised to find a few surprises at the new locations.
In November 2015, Bisbee Breakfast Club began roasting coffee in-house and recently added a full espresso menu at the Ina location.
Exclusive to the Sunrise location, the restaurant will offer a coffee window that will be open later than regular hours.
“We’re building in a walk-up window at the Sunrise location to continue specialty coffee drinks after the restaurant closes,” he said. “Maybe it will stay open until 7 or so. That’s up in the air.”
Similar to the coffee served at the Ina location, coffee at the Broadway location will come from Kyte’s sister business, Ombre Coffee.
In addition, Bisbee’s Broadway location, will include a separate, but connected, Ombre Coffee with its own store front. After the restaurant closes for the day, Ombre Coffee will operate as a stand-alone shop.
Both of the new Bisbee Breakfast Club restaurants will be open from 6 a.m. to 2:05 p.m. every day, similar to other locations.
“We feel it’s important that our guests who come in the door at 2:04, instead of being turned away, or rushed through their meal, have the same experience as those who come in the door any other time of the day,” he said. “The extra 5 minutes is a wink and a nod to those people.”
The Bisbee Breakfast Club came to Tucson in 2011, followed by Mesa in 2014, and has served Bisbee since 2005.
Last year to celebrate ten years in business, the Bisbee Breakfast Club started a scholarship fund for Bisbee High School’s graduating seniors. Last week, the scholarship was awarded to Leslye Gracia, who plans to attend Cochise College in the fall.
