Tucson Foodie has partnered with Tucson Craft Beer Crawl for 2016 and is proud to feature Brewer Profiles. Each profile features a select Craft Beer Crawl brewer. This profile features Allan Conger from 1912 Brewing Co.

How and when did you first become interested in beer?

I’ve been home brewing since 2004. I hung out in one of the fermentation classes, caught the brewing bug from my professor and proceeded to blow up the first porter in the closet. I was hooked from there.

What do you think you bring to the brewing game that makes you stand out?

Continual brewing experimentation on recipes and tap offerings keep 1912 Brewing Company an engaging part of the community. 1912 Brewing offers as much of a variety as we can with our beers. Part of the process for creating new beers for 1912 is Arizona-inspired. The Southwest has a flair and taste of its own and makes for great inspiration.

Top five beers you’ve sampled recently (only include ONE of yours)

  1. Cerezo Cherry Gose, a collabrew with 1912 Brewing Co., Ermanos Craft Beer & Wine Bar, and Borderlands Brewing
  2. Xocoveza Mocha Stout by Stone Brewing
  3. Borderlands Apricot Sour
  4. Barrel Aged Narwhal from Sierra Nevada
  5. Bitter Monk by Anchorage Brewing

Beers you’ll be featuring at the beer crawl?

Mescalero, our Whiskey flavored chocolate and coffee stout, and our Tepache Gose Collabrew.

Check out 1912 Brewing Co. and a handful of other local and regional brewers at the 2016 Tucson Craft Beer Crawl, February 20, 2016. for more information and tickets, visit tucsoncraftbeercrawl.com.

Tucson’s barbecue options range from food trucks to full-service dining rooms. Some focus on classic Texas-style plates with butcher paper and simple sides. Others experiment with fusion dishes that blend barbecue with Mexican and Southwestern flavors. This variety gives diners plenty of options, whether they want a quick lunch or a sit-down meal.
