Carlson Creek Winery Gets Napa Valley Touch

Carlson Creek Winery Gets Napa Valley Touch

Oct 4, 20141 min read

In late 2015, there will be a new reason to visit Willcox.

Carlson Creek Vineyard will be introducing a brand new 10,000 case winery and tasting room to their 160 acre property. The local, family-owned vineyard is working with Napa Valley firm BAR Architects. Sounds like a wine tastingĀ dream.

In addition, Carlson Creek Vineyard just released their first-ever Merlot varietal. TheĀ 2012 vintage, aged in French and Hungarian oak barrels, is aĀ robust Merlot highlighted by flavors of plum and cracked peppers with a lasting finish.

According to the people who know better, it’s ā€œa perfect pairing for ribs and a wine that both serious oenophiles (that’s a wine-lover, by the way) and the newly initiated can enjoy.ā€

For more information visit CarlsonĀ Creek on their website,Ā call (520) 766-3000Ā or visit theirĀ Facebook page.

A new Chihuahuan-style restaurant and tortilla factory is opening in Tucson! @Tortillaschiwas debuts Thursday at 914 N. Grande Ave. in Barrio Hollywood, inside the former Grande Tortilla Factory.

Phoenix restaurateurs Armando Hernandez and chef Nadia Holguin, a married couple originally from Chihuahua, Mexico, are behind the project. The James Beard-nominated duo will bring a roughly 15-item menu featuring dishes from their Phoenix restaurants, including Cocina Chiwas and Espiritu Cocktails + Comida.

Tortillas Chiwas will initially be open Thursdays through Saturdays from 5–10 p.m. with just 38 seats. Reservations are available on OpenTable. The team also plans to mill nixtamal on-site for hand-pressed tortillas, continuing the building’s long tortilla-making history.
