Can you believe it’s almost August? The heat and mugginess have done nothing to quell the influx of things to do in the Old Pueblo. Below, you’ll find a handful of events featuring delicious Peruvian meals, wines and felines, a whiskey pairing dinner, a luau, and more.

KINGFISHER ROAD TRIP 2022: GREAT PLAINS/MIDWEST

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that Kingfisher kicked off their Road Trip 2022: Great Plains/Midwest menu this week. Their menu will feature regionally inspired dishes such as a Pan-Fried “Great Lakes” Walleye and a Strawberry-Rhubarb Crumble for dessert.

PERUVIAN INDEPENDENCE DAY: WEEKEND CELEBRATION

Peruvian Independence Day is on Thursday, July 28, but Villa Peru is celebrating all weekend.

Villa Peru will be serving a special Pachamanca menu and Pisco Sour Flights. Pachamanca is a traditional cooking method from the Andean (Andes) Mountains where meat and vegetables are marinated with local herbs and chilis, and cooked underground in rocks.

LUAU PARTY AT HOPS & VINES

It’s time to break out the Hawaiian shirt! If you’re not aware, Hops & Vines throws some killer parties and their Luau will be no exception.

There will be Hawaiian food including a roasted pig, tropical cocktails, wine, slushees, and hula dancers — all under the stars. Enjoy live music from Island Style at 2 p.m., Hula dancers at 5 p.m., and then dance your heart out under the stars until 10 p.m.

SUMMERTIME TEA PARTY

A teabag’s college friend told her a long-winded story about people she didn’t know. “Cool story, brew,” she said.

Okay, that was tea-rrible, but you know what isn’t? A Summertime Tea Party!

Celebrate summertime with Spark Project Collective Events Center and try different flavors of tea and nibble on some treats. Every guest will go home with their own unique tea cup and saucer. You’re welcome to dress up in your best afternoon tea attire — hats are encouraged.

FINE WINES FOR FELINES

If you’re as paw-ssionate about wines as you are about helping animals, then you’re going to love what Arizona Wine Collective has in store for you. Enjoy a flight of three Arizona wines plus hors’ d’oeuvres this Sunday. You’ll be feline good and doing good.

Cost: $25. Half of each sale will benefit shelter cats.

WAGNER VINEYARD WINE DINNER

Sip back and relax this Sunday! Executive chef Frank Guzman from Proof Artisanal Pizza & Pasta has put together a special food menu to highlight wines from Wagner Vineyards. Seating is limited for this one-night-only event.

Enjoy menu items such as bouillabaisse paired with a white blend, duck breast served with forbidden rice and paired with a pinot noir, and beef tenderloin paired with a cabernet.

Cost: $65 per person. Call (520) 789-7447 to make your reservation.

José Contreras, chef and owner of @Ameliastucson, is headed to New York City to cook alongside chef Alam Méndez of Washington, D.C.‘s Apapacho Taqueria for a collaborative dinner at the James Beard Foundation’s Platform at Pier 57.

The Aug. 11 dinner will celebrate the culinary traditions of Sonora and Oaxaca through a multi course menu centered on heirloom corn, traditional masa, and coastal flavors. Guests will also enjoy a cocktail reception, Mijenta Tequila pairings, and a Q&A with both chefs. The event begins at 6:30 pm at @Pier57.nyc. Although El Conquistador licenses the Hilton brand, it’s owned and operated by a local company. The culinary team sources much of its meat and produce from Arizona. 

Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway or just looking for an incredible dinner with Catalina Mountain views, this spot is worth adding to your list. 🌵🌞
