Foodie Events from May 25 – 31: Beer, whiskey, & wine — oh, my!

If there’s anything to know this weekend, it’s two things:

  1. Memorial Day is on Monday so prep those grills.
  2. National Wine Day is on Thursday.

2023 PIZZA THROWDOWN AND DESSERT DUEL – SOLD OUT

Get ready for a night of tasty food and friendly competition during the 2023 Pizza Throwdown and Dessert Duel.

Once again, Tucson Originals is hosting the cheesy event at Fresco Pizzeria and Pastaria. If it’s your first time hearing about this event, some of Tucson’s top pizzerias go slice for slice in a battle for pizza supremacy.

Join Brother John on Thursday, May 25th for May’s installment of our Monthly pairing dinners.  This month they are featuring Wren House Brewing Company. Come and see what Chef Patrick Vezino and the Brother John’s Pit crew have created in their four-course dinner to pair with 4 amazing brews from Wren House.

EPICUREAN WINES DINNER WITH BRYAN KLASSEN

Tuesday, May 30 at 6 p.m.
Feast, 3719 E. Speedway Blvd.

Join the Feast staff and Bryan from Epicurean Wines on Tuesday, May 30. The team will be pouring four wines that “decidedly do not taste like every other Australian wine, wines whose balance and curious complexity make them standouts amongst their colleagues and counterparts.”  Taste some wines that dare to be different, and eat a dinner built around them.  Call Feast at (520) 326-9363 to reserve a seat at the table.

OWLS CLUB WHISKY WEDNESDAY DINNER

Wednesday, May 31 at 6 p.m.

Limited spots are available for Wagyu Whisky Wednesday with Forbes Meat Co. Indulge in this A5 Japanese Wagyu tasting with pairings and lectures.

José Contreras, chef and owner of @Ameliastucson, is headed to New York City to cook alongside chef Alam Méndez of Washington, D.C.‘s Apapacho Taqueria for a collaborative dinner at the James Beard Foundation’s Platform at Pier 57.

The Aug. 11 dinner will celebrate the culinary traditions of Sonora and Oaxaca through a multi course menu centered on heirloom corn, traditional masa, and coastal flavors. Guests will also enjoy a cocktail reception, Mijenta Tequila pairings, and a Q&A with both chefs. The event begins at 6:30 pm at @Pier57.nyc. Tickets are $210 for dining table seats and $250 for the chef’s counter, and are available now at Jamesbeard.org.

Although El Conquistador licenses the Hilton brand, it’s owned and operated by a local company. The culinary team sources much of its meat and produce from Arizona. 

Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway or just looking for an incredible dinner with Catalina Mountain views, this spot is worth adding to your list. 🌵🌞
