Watch “Hocus Pocus” with Molecular Munchies at Casa Video

Watch “Hocus Pocus” with Molecular Munchies at Casa Video

Oct 8, 20192 min read

It’s time to party like it’s 1693.

Casa Film Bar is getting into the spooky spirit and throwing a “Hocus Pocus” bash with Molecular Munchies from 7 – 9 p.m. on Friday, October 11.

What better way to wreak havoc during the month of October then to chow down on tasty cuisine from one of Tucson’s craftier food trucks, and then allow the spooky nostalgia of “Hocus Pocus” complete your night?

The food truck is known for its burgers, but what would the trio of witches whip up from the depths of their cauldron? Perhaps the Cajun Kickin’ Chicken with a side of Gnar Sauce could hit the spot.

Whatever it may be, it ought to be a fun night.

Casa Film Bar is located at 2905 E. Speedway Blvd.  For more information, visit Casa Film Bar’s Facebook event page

If you can’t make it to this screening of the movie there’s a couple of other options to help you run amok throughout the month of October.

Casa Marana

7 – 9 p.m. on Saturday, October 19

The craft beer and wine drinking spot is holding a similar Hocus Pocus bash to celebrate the Halloween spirit.

It’s unsure which food truck will be parked out front, but time will tell.

Casa Marana is located at 8225 N. Courtney Page Way, Suite 191, Marana, AZ. For more information, visit Casa Marana’s Facebook event page.

The Loft Cinema

7 – 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23

This is for those that are hoping to watch the classic Disney movie on the big screen.

Tickets are $12 per person and $10 for Loft Members and children 12 years old and younger.

The Loft Cinema is located at 3233 E. Speedway  Blvd. For more information, visit The Loft Cinema’s Facebook event page

Hotel McCoy

8 – 10 p.m. on Saturday, October 26

This one’s for those that want to enjoy the movie, but then also enjoy the incredible weather that October in Tucson brings to the city.

Hotel McCoy is going to be showing the movie out by the pool for free.

Are you worried you’ll be too scared to drive home? Feel free to book a room at the artsy hotel.

Hotel McCoy is located at 720 W. Silverlake Rd.  For more information, visit Hotel McCoy’s Facebook event page

More about Matt

At a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.

He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.

If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.

A new Chihuahuan-style restaurant and tortilla factory is opening in Tucson! @Tortillaschiwas debuts Thursday at 914 N. Grande Ave. in Barrio Hollywood, inside the former Grande Tortilla Factory.

Phoenix restaurateurs Armando Hernandez and chef Nadia Holguin, a married couple originally from Chihuahua, Mexico, are behind the project. The James Beard-nominated duo will bring a roughly 15-item menu featuring dishes from their Phoenix restaurants, including Cocina Chiwas and Espiritu Cocktails + Comida.

Tortillas Chiwas will initially be open Thursdays through Saturdays from 5–10 p.m. with just 38 seats. Reservations are available on OpenTable. The team also plans to mill nixtamal on-site for hand-pressed tortillas, continuing the building’s long tortilla-making history.
