Jewel’s Noodle Kitchen quietly opened on Wednesday at 5683 E. Speedway Blvd., just a few yards from Brother’s Noodles.
They have no web presence, so pre-research was difficult. However, our team member Jenn Teufel Schoenberger casually walked in and the restaurant was empty. As it turns out, Tucson Foodie was the restaurant’s first customer.
Jenn was greeted by the owner Lucy. However, Lucy only spoke Mandarin. The two managed to communicate thanks to a translation app and pointing at the menu.
The full menu wasn’t available yet, but Jenn was able to order from the items checked on the menu:

The “pies” are also known as xianbing, which you could describe as a Chinese empanada.
Dishes sampled on the first visit:

We will return for a noodle pull with chopsticks.

Towards the end of the dinner, Lucy brought out some boiled peanuts with celery.

Although only one Tucson Foodie team member has experienced what Jewel’s Noodle Kitchen has to offer, I plan to visit for lunch soon. So, stay tuned for detailed article with additional details.
