Just Churros Permanently Closes its Brick-And-Mortar Location

May 3, 20241 min read

Last year in June, Just Churros — a food truck dedicated to the classic art of making churros — opened its very first brick-and-mortar at 4280 N. Oracle Rd.

On Friday, May 3, the family-owned business announced that they’re going back to what’s proven to be most successful: operating out of a food truck only and serving some of the best churros in Tucson.

“We extend our sincere gratitude for your continued support,” they shared online. “Our new location will be situated in the parking lot of River and La Cañada, adjacent to Albertsons.”

Therefore, you can find them at 5075 N. La Cañada Dr., dishing out recipes that have been circulating within the family for more than 40 years. Plus, the family is excited to join more events and food truck rallies in the future.

“Additionally, we will be participating in various events throughout the city. While we thoroughly enjoyed operating from a storefront, we believe that our business is currently better suited for our food truck. We eagerly anticipate serving you soon!”

So, it’s not “goodbye” to Just Churros, it’s “we can’t wait to see the family at the food truck’s new location and local events around Tucson!”

On most days, Just Churros will be parked at 5075 N. La Cañada Dr. Keep up with the latest by following Just Churros on Instagram.

More about Matt

At a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.

He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.

If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.

@Pueblovida is closing its original downtown taproom this fall, 12 years after opening, and moving next door to a larger space at 121 E. Broadway Blvd.

The new taproom will seat 100+ guests and feature 14 taps, a curated wine program and, for the first time, a restaurant. Chef Scott Girod of @Anello_pizzeria will open a new restaurant in the shared space, expected to follow the taproom’s late fall 2026 opening in early 2027.

“This taproom has always been more than four walls. It’s where we’ve celebrated milestones, introduced hundreds of new beers, watched friendships grow and built a community we’re incredibly grateful for. While we’re excited about what’s next, it’s impossible not to feel sentimental about saying goodbye to the place where it all happened.” — @Pueblovida Co-founder Linette Antillon
