Oscar Mayer’s Bizarrely Hilarious Bacon Campaign

Oscar Mayer’s Bizarrely Hilarious Bacon Campaign

Mar 7, 20141 min read

While I’ve never been the biggest fan of Oscar Mayer anything, really – especially their bacon – I must admit that their bacon ad campaign, Wake Up and Smell The Bacon, is brilliant.

Direct from OMIFAB, the Oscar Mayer Institute For the Advancement of Bacon, is what one can only hope to be the beginning of a multitude of commercials promoting that ever so glorious of cured pork cuts.

With Phil Roudenbusch as ‘cut & design chef,’ having received both his under grad and grad degrees in ‘advanced baconing,’ Oscar Mayer has crafted the most articulate and passionate bacon spokesperson.

Their latest video, Wake Up & Smell the Bacon is a bacon dreamscape culminating in their latest product, the bacon alarm clock. See for yourself:

If Old Spice can revive itself through clever marketing, perhaps Oscar Mayer will, too. As if we should expect anything less from the company that brought us the Weinermobile.

Tucson’s barbecue options range from food trucks to full-service dining rooms. Some focus on classic Texas-style plates with butcher paper and simple sides. Others experiment with fusion dishes that blend barbecue with Mexican and Southwestern flavors. This variety gives diners plenty of options, whether they want a quick lunch or a sit-down meal.
