Owls Club earns spot on Food & Wine Top 10 US Bars

Apr 10, 20261 min read

Craft cocktail bar Owls Club ranked number seven in the Food & Wine article The Top 10 US Bars, According to the Experts.

Housed inside a former funeral home in Armory Park, Owls Club stood out for pairing its historic setting, complete with stained glass and chandeliers, with a warm, laid-back atmosphere and thoughtfully crafted drinks. The recognition reflects a broader shift toward unpretentious, experience-driven bars, and positions the bar as a standout destination on the national stage.

The blurb goes into Owls Club’s history, vibes, and menu:

[…] Owls Club has a warm, lodge-like feel, plus a relaxed outdoor space with overhead string lights and a fire pit. Look for an extensive list of whiskey and European wines alongside party starters such as the Sonoran Finale (Old Overholt rye, genepy, Luxardo maraschino, lemon) and the Bronco Buster (Laird’s apple brandy, rye, dry curacao).

IOU Sushi III has closed. The all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant on North Oracle Road announced the news on Facebook after about 10 years in Tucson. “This is the hardest post I’ve had to write,” the owners said. The post continued, “we have met some great friends who have become family to us.” Tucson Foodie first visited the restaurant in 2017, when it operated as IOU Sushi IV.

Anne Rysdale built @sheltercocktaillounge in 1961 with concrete walls, lava rock, and Cold War nerves. Today, owners Pam Santangelo and Kevin Breutzmann keep the Tucson bar exactly as regulars remember it. Inside, martinis share space with JFK memorabilia, a vintage atomic chandelier, and a suit of armor named Charlie. “Tucson is changing so much, but this has stayed the same. It’s a time capsule,” Santangelo said.
