Dining Deals, $10 Happy Hour Bites & More at Renee’s Tucson

Jun 25, 20242 min read

Renee Kreager and her husband, Steve, owners and operators of Renee’s Tucson, first arrived in Tucson in the ’90s. They quickly fell in love with the city and decided to make it their home soon after.

Living in Tucson can be a blessing with at least eight months of weather that’s easy to handle. We don’t have to shovel snow or worry about too many natural disasters, and there are plenty of restaurants with beautiful outdoor patios.

However, during the summer months, the heat can put a damper on things!

Luckily, the restaurant at 7065 E. Tanque Verde Rd. is offering a group of specials from June to September of this year.

Patio Dining

One of those deals is Renee’s “Some Like it Hot!” special: all of those dining out on the patio get 20% off of their meal from now until the end of September.

Birthday Lunch Date Special

If you’re taking someone out for a special birthday lunch, Renee’s has a deal for you!

From 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., bring in that person celebrating a birthday for a $50 shared meal including two glasses of prosecco or iced tea, two small salads, one pizza, pasta, or lasagna to share, and then one slice of flourless chocolate cake.

They’ll even include a “Happy Birthday” candle in the cake to wish them well.

At-Home Happy Hour Special

We all love a great Happy Hour special! However, sometimes we don’t want to leave the house when the asphalt looks like a George Foreman Grill (does anyone still use those?), radiating heat too hot to walk on.

From 3 – 5:30 p.m. daily, Renee’s is offering an At-Home Happy Hour Special (takeout only).

For just $10, you can get a one-topping 12-inch pizza, any salad on the menu, pasta (spaghetti, penne pesto, or penne arrabbiata), or cake (two slices of flourless chocolate cake or one slice of Steve’s Cake).

Therefore, you have options at Renee’s this summer! Whether you want to get your food to go and enjoy at home, or are aiming to dine in, the restaurant has a few deals available now until the end of September.

What’s in a Name?

In 2021, the Kreager’s changed the restaurant’s name from Renee’s Organic Oven to just Renee’s Tucson.

“One of the reasons we switched from Renee’s Organic Oven to Renee’s was to let people know that we were still us,” said Renee. “You knew what to expect to some degree but you should pause and see what’s different. So it was really the most gentle way that I thought I could say to our guests, ‘Hey, I’m still here and I love you.’”

More about Matt

At a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.

He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.

If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.
