Go, go agave! 8 spots for a tequila flight in Tucson

Go, go agave! 8 spots for a tequila flight in Tucson

Jul 24, 20173 min read

Tequila!

While the blue agave spirit is often consumed in margaritas or with salt and lime, the truly great stuff is worth savoring by the sip.

Since higher end bottles can cost a pretty penny, sample a few different varieties at once, with a tequila flight.

Blanco Tacos + Tequila

2905 E. Skyline Dr.

Blanco offers flights in seven varieties and varying prices, which consist of three one-ounce pours of the blanco, reposado and añejo tequilas from each distillery:

  • Milagro Tequila ($12)
  • Patrón Tequila ($14)
  • Azuñia Tequila ($15)
  • Casamigos Tequila ($16)
  • Tequila Fortaleza ($16)
  • Casa Noble Tequila ($17)

Additionally, the Ultra Flight ($48) features Reserva de La Familia, Milagro “Single Barrel” Añejo, and Don Julio “1942”.

For more information, visit foxrc.com.

BOCA Tacos y Tequila

828 E. Speedway Blvd.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BbSjvsxFGiH/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

The flight isn’t on the menu, but BOCA still offers it. Get a shot of silver, reposado, and añejo together for a shot each. You can also go Mexican-patriotic with the Bandera, which is a shot of lime juice, a shot of tequila, and a shot of sangrita. Mezcals are also available.

For more information, visit bocatacos.com.

Charro Steak

188 E. Broadway Blvd.

For $22, order a tasting flight of silver, reposado, and añejo tequila from your choice of Casamigos, Avión, Casa Nobles, or Patrón distilleries.

For more information, visit charrosteak.com.

The Flying V Bar & Grill

7000 N. Resort Dr.

Pick your price point at $15, $20, $25, or $35 for a sampling of a four tequila flight selected by Flying V’s bartenders.

For more information, visit loewshotels.com.

Good Oak Bar

316 E. Congress St.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BWDyN5glHH8/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

If you have a tough time choosing from Good Oak Bar’s rare agave spirits, order the agave flight.

For more information, visit goodoakbar.com.

Penca

50 E. Broadway Blvd.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BCgjocoRX49/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Penca is proud of their agave selection with a wide variety of flights:

  • Production ($25) – A rotating selection of mezcals that highlight master mezcaleros’ production process
  • Dividido ($20) – This a beginner’s guide to Mexico’s plant-based spirits. Includes four different spirits
  • Tequila ($25) – Includes three modern understandings of tequila.
  • Mezcales de la Casa ($30) – Three to four bottles from their mezcal collection selected by Penca’s bartenders
  • Subsistence ($35)
  • Único ($30)

Note: Penca will be rolling out a new cocktail menu soon, so don’t get too attached to these offerings.

For more information, visit pencarestaurante.com.

Reforma

4310 N. Campbell Ave.

Celebrate with Reforma’s massive wall of agave spirits. If you wait until Tequila Thursday, all tequila and mezcal is half-off.

The cocktail room is closed for the summer, but contact Three Wells directly to schedule a tour and tasting. Their blue agave spirit can’t be called tequila because it’s not made in the regions for it, but it’s made right here in Tucson with the same ingredients.
