Summer has officially arrived. While we wait for the monsoons to make their glorious appearance, let’s make the best of the hot weather. Don’t forget to wear a hat and sunscreen when visiting any of the farmers markets this week. Protect your skin, drink lots of water and adventure on.

Community Food Bank Farmers Markets

The Community Food Bank runs a program named Caridad. Caridad, which is Spanish for charity, has touched the lives of countless people for over 15 years. It’s a 10-week culinary training program for unemployed and underemployed individuals as well as a full catering service. Consider Caridad for your next catered event. All proceeds go back to the Community Food Bank and provide a living wage for its employees.

FoodInRoot

FoodInRoot knows its hot out. To make your market time a little more pleasant, the two St. Philip’s Plaza markets will have extra tents set up to provide some much needed shade. In addition to the vendor tents, a row of large tents will be set up in the center-walking aisle. Enjoy the reprieve from the sun and visit all of your favorite vendors.

  • An exciting new addition has been added to the market. Deep House Yoga will be hosting a yoga class on the patio starting at 8:00 p.m. The class is $5 and is just what your body will need after running with the Meet Me at Maynard’s group and picking up all of the week’s essentials at the market.
  • Happy Hippie Kitchen and Wellness is the best way to start your week. Pick up a batch of energy bites and some chia seed pudding with fresh berries. Don’t forget to hydrate with a glass of zen water!

“I scream, you scream...oh, hush! In this warm weather town, there’s no need to scream for ice cream. This year-round favorite treat and its cool cousins, gelato, and sorbet are widely available in a variety of distinctive styles and flavors. You’ll also find more unusual fare such as Indian golas, a version of shaved ice.” — @ediebjarolim
