Tilted Kilt To Open In Tucson August 18

Aug 8, 20141 min read

Tilted Kilt will open in the former Risky Business at 250 S. Craycroft on Monday, August 18.

The sports bar chain that harkens back to classic English and American pubs, complete with Celtic decor will feature 36 beers on tap, and more large screen plasma TVs than you can shake a stick at. In addition to the numerous flat screens, Tilted Kilt will feature a 126″ HDTV ‘wall’ made up of 9 42″ televisions sets.

Tilted Kilt’s menu consists of standard pub fare – nachos, cheese sticks, spinach artichoke dip, fish and chips, and the like – with a few standout variations:

  • Irish Nachos (Fresh-cooked crispy potato chips covered with Guinness cheese sauce, seasoned ground beef and tomatoes)
  • Pub Pretzels (Bavarian style soft-baked pretzels with Guinness cheese sauce).
  • Shepherd’s Pie (Seasoned ground beef, carrots, peas and mushroom gravy topped with red skin mashed potatoes and parmesan cheese served with garlic bread)
  • Irish Stew (Tender beef pot roast, red potatoes, carrots, celery, onions and peas slow-cooked in Guinness beef stock )

And, if you’re the Hooters type, this just might be your new joint. Tilted Kilt servers, referred to as cast members, are all females that wear mini-kilts with a heavy cleavage revealing top. If you remember Britney Spears’ schoolgirl outfit in the Hit Me Baby One More Time video, well… she’d be hired in an instant. Men are hired, as well, but only as bartenders.

Titled Kilt is located at 250 S. Craycroft. For more information keep up with Tilted Kilt Tucson on Facebook, or visit their website at tiltedkilt.com.

IOU Sushi III has closed. The all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant on North Oracle Road announced the news on Facebook after about 10 years in Tucson. “This is the hardest post I’ve had to write,” the owners said. The post continued, “we have met some great friends who have become family to us.” Tucson Foodie first visited the restaurant in 2017, when it operated as IOU Sushi IV.

Anne Rysdale built @sheltercocktaillounge in 1961 with concrete walls, lava rock, and Cold War nerves. Today, owners Pam Santangelo and Kevin Breutzmann keep the Tucson bar exactly as regulars remember it. Inside, martinis share space with JFK memorabilia, a vintage atomic chandelier, and a suit of armor named Charlie. “Tucson is changing so much, but this has stayed the same. It’s a time capsule,” Santangelo said.
