If you like Choice Greens and Graze Premium Burgers, you’re really going to like the next venture from the owners of these two establishments: Truland Burgers & Greens.

Conceived by Choice Greens and Graze Premium Burgers owners Paolo DeFilippis and Jeff Katz, Truland Burgers & Greens is expected to open in late June at 7332 N. Oracle Road near Ina.

“We’ve had Choice Greens for eleven years, and we have our Graze Burgers concept which has been chugging along so well,” DeFilippis said. “With Truland, we wanted to create a destination that’s a combination of both.”

The Truland menu will be a mesh between Graze and Choice Greens, but will offer slightly different additions.

“In addition to the classic salads we feature at Choice Greens, we’ll offer salads that are a little different,” DeFilippis said. “We’ll offer more premium toppings for our burgers, like truffle mayo and we’ll have a list of burgers instead of just a single or double type of thing.”

Perhaps one of the biggest additions will be Truland’s bar. Although both restaurants currently offer beer and wine, it has never been a major selling point. The bar at Truland will feature local craft beers and wine on tap.

One thing that will remain the same is the use of all-natural, hormone and antibiotic free beef from Double Check Ranch and Niman Ranch.

Truland will also serve all-natural chicken, veggie burgers, chorizo burgers, fries made fresh from Kennebec potatoes, twice-fried in non-GMO rice bran oil, and milkshakes with all-natural ice cream.

Staying true to the original concept of Choice Greens, Truland’s salads will be tossed with fresh ingredients, including organic lettuce.

“We’ve been getting a lot of requests from our customers about a location on the northwest side,” DeFilippis said. “When we were contacted by the shopping plaza owner we felt it would be a great fit for us. Creating a sit-down destination with a bar and a really cool atmosphere – we thought it was a great fit for that area.”

Although DeFilippis and Katz don’t have specific plans for a fourth location, DeFilippis thinks Tucson’s east side would be a good area.

As for plans to move into Phoenix, DeFilippis said, “It could be in the cards in the future.”

“We’re focused on Tucson right now. We’re from here, we live here, and this makes sense for us right now,” he said. “We’re really excited to do this new venture and combine both restaurants from a menu standpoint. It’s going to be a really cool destination spot on that side of town for families, couples, and people who work in the area.”
