Crooked Tooth Brewing Co. is opening its doors to the public at 3 p.m. on Friday, November 4.
Tucson native married duo Ben Vernon and Julie Vernon along with business partner Armando Basurto secured the location at 228 E. 6th St. one year ago. They’ve been steadily building up the space since then, with bar lights and bar tops installed only a few weeks ago.
The space doesn’t look like it previously housed Charlie’s Auto Services. It’s decorated with burned, scraped and coated reclaimed wood from over the past year by Ben and Armando, while the lights were handmade by Julie.
“My uncle just retired got a saw mill and he cut all the wood for us,” Julie said. “The table wood is from St. John’s, while the blue beetle pine logs are from Greer on the side of the road.”
The bar top is has outlets and USB ports along the side, making it friendly for people who want to hang around for a while and use the Wi-Fi.
Thanks to the friendly Tucson beer community, beer production has been smooth.
“I spent a lot of time working at Barrio Brewing Company, so the staff there has been great,” Ben said. “Kyle from Pueblo Vida has been coming by and helping a lot too.”
While only three beers will be available at the grand opening, additional beers will be available to utilize the six taps.
