Boulevard Barbecue & Fixins is now open on Speedway

"We are putting out some food Tucson will be happy to call its own."

The team behind Serial GrillersToro Loco Tacos y Burros, and Craft, A Modern Drinkery is opening Boulevard Barbecue & Fixins on Monday, October 12.

After the success of owning several other businesses in Tucson, Travis and William Miller are pumped to finally have Tucsonans taste the smokey and collaborative cuisine that comes from the mind of David Martin of Red Desert BBQ.

Last year, the Millers set out to create a restaurant that appealed to more people than just barbecue traditionalists and those solely looking for meat plates.

“As far as our partnership with David Martin, it kinda happened organically,” said Travis Miller. “We had been traveling and visiting barbecue places throughout Texas but knew nothing about smoking meats. I suggested to David, kind of as a joke, that we should do a mashup and open a barbecue place.”

Boulevard Barbecue & Fixins has been under construction since December 2019 — the pandemic being the main reason for the delay — but after 11 months of paying rent for a restaurant that wasn’t utilized, they decided to make it happen.

What you’ll find on the menu is a collection of best-sellers from Red Desert BBQ and then an expanded take on barbecue from Serial Grillers.

“David has years of experience smoking meats,” said Travis Miller. “The concept is taking high-quality smoked meats and making it more approachable for everyday consumption. With that in mind, we have developed a menu with everything from your traditional smoked meat platters, pulled pork salads, and specialty sandwiches with horseradish cream sauce, roasted poblano chiles, sauteed onions, and jalapeño bacon.”

The restaurant’s current hours are 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. daily.
