On Sunday, March 20, The Dutch Eatery & Refuge spent its final day on Main Gate Square, but it’s all for the preparation of its new location at 5340 E. Broadway Blvd.
“Being on University for the past five years has been a blast but it is time for us to graduate,” The Dutch released in a statement. “We are so excited to introduce you to our new home in the Williams Center on the corner of Broadway and Craycroft next month.”
With that being said, the crew is expecting to open in mid-April. However, they’ve got a nifty lineup of events in the works — the first one happening on Saturday, April 16.
The space was formerly housed by Pita Jungle but has since been undergoing a facelift, so to speak.
The Dutch is looking forward to hosting more “Chef’s Table” events that feature five to seven-course tasting menus. Also, they’ll have an expansive shaded patio for additional seating, outdoor games for all ages, a bar lounge with firepits, and a semi-private dining space that can be reserved ahead of time.
Oh, and another important detail is that there’s going to be free parking.
“We’ve loved being by the school and are very excited about our new chapter,” said co-owner, Nicole Van Winden, “and being able to introduce The Dutch to a more diverse audience, who may not make it to university area often.”
They’ll be hosting the event “Wild Game and Beer Dinner featuring Dragoon Brewing” at 6 p.m. This meal will be presented in five courses, which all include a Dragoon Brewing brew. Seats are limited and $68 per person. You’ll need to make reservations for this one.

Starting at 3 p.m., the big Koningsdag event kicks off. They’re encouraging everyone to don their brightest orange apparel and celebrate the House of Orange-Nassau. The Dutch holiday involves drink specials and tasty Dutch treats, too.

This one’s an “Old World Wine Dinner featuring George Wine Shop” event and things will get started at 6 p.m. This massive meal is five courses and includes a glass of wine with each round. Seats are $89 per person and they’re currently accepting reservations.
