
On Friday, April 25, doors were locked and signage was posted on each door of The Bambi Bar, stating that the bar had shut down at 5050 E. Speedway Blvd.
The Pima County Health Department made the decision to close the dive bar due to a lack of required permits, some structural damage, and other health-related hazards.
Local businesses are usually given 10 days to make the requested improvements. However, as of Thursday, May 8, folks from the Health Department confirmed that The Bambi is now permanently closed.
The property is scheduled for demolition within the next 30 days.
Last year, the dive bar was purchased by the real estate agency Larsen Baker. The plan then was to keep the business open until a future rezoning of the property.
