A couple of years ago, Chef Tyler Fenton and the team opened BATA at 35 E. Toole Ave.
Drawing inspiration from a modern European culinary philosophy, where the spotlight shines on the beauty and quality of each ingredient, the restaurant’s goal has been to enrich Tucson’s dining scene.
It’s been a welcome addition to the local fine dining scene, which is slim pickings.

Now, there’s something new to try!
If you’re unsure what to order on the menu, let the BATA kitchen decide for you. Their new “Choose For Me” dining option gives you the opportunity to try both on-menu and off-menu items — depending on what’s available and what’s in season.
“We are very excited to add another dining option for our guests to enjoy,” said Fenton. “We feel this option takes away any stress from the dining experience and allows you to fully sit back, relax, and enjoy a wonderful spread. The kitchen team really gets to flex their creativity and celebrate the best of what we have! This is my favorite way to eat!”
“Choose For Me” is at a fixed price of $60 per person and full-table participation is required.
“Our prix fixe menu is designed around our ideal BATA experience,” said Otis Baldwin, General Manager. “A celebration of the current season, built around sharing. We also include a large format dish that would fill your table with all the bread and condiments inspired by some of the food cultures we love.”
As always, it’s best to make a reservation at BATA — not required but suggested.

“Hopefully, you will try a little bit of this, with a little bit of that, and out of pure enjoyment we want you to reach across the table for that perfect bite and share an experience with the people you love,” Baldwin added.
The restaurant is open 5 – 9 p.m. on Wednesday – Thursday, 5 – 10 p.m. on Friday – Saturday, and 5 – 9 p.m. on Sunday (closed on Monday and Tuesday).

More about MattAt a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.
