The name may sound familiar to many because it’s a restaurant that’s been around since 2009.
However, it hasn’t always been at the same location.
BZ’s Bistro, formerly named BZ’s Pizza & Italian Kitchen, was most recently located at 7856 E. Wrightstown Rd., but a few weeks ago, they opened a brand-new location in midtown at 3225 N. Swan Rd. #105A.

Sure, there’s a new name but the restaurant is still what many know it by: a great hangout spot for hardcore Cleveland Browns fans, a friendly neighborhood bar atmosphere, and an Italian restaurant with stellar pizzas, pasta dishes, wings, and sandwiches.
Co-owner Chef Brian “BZ” Sorell is still in the kitchen, dishin’ out his beloved pizzas like the BZ Special (pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions, and roasted peppers) and the Hammer — often referred to as the pizza that’s a combination of nearly everything on the menu. The Hammer is loaded with pepperoni, sausage, ham, capicola, onions, and roasted peppers, and then it’s all nailed down with some pesto sauce on top.

Chef Sorell takes pride in the wings on the menu, too.
He marinates the wings for a few days, bakes them in the pizza oven for caramelization, and then flash-fries them in each of the restaurant’s housemade sauces — traditional buffalo, garlic parmesan, and fire honey (a spicy, Sriracha-flavored Thai-inspired sauce), to name a few.
If you’re looking for dessert, order the cheesecake. I’ve never met a cheesecake I didn’t get along with and BZ’s cheesecake and I immediately became friends. If their cheesecake, which is made in-house, had a phone number, it’d be one of my speed-dials.

They also have a full bar with draft beer and cocktails to strike your fancy. You can check out the full menu online.
The restaurant is open 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Monday, 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. on Tuesday – Thursday, 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Friday – Saturday, and 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. on Sunday.

Matt Sterner
More about MattAt a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.
He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.
If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.
