Cans Deli on Fourth Ave revamps menu with eccentric items & expanded vegan options

Jul 17, 20181 min read

Cans Deli on Fourth Avenue has shifted focus away from its original traditional Jewish deli-inspired menu to an eclectic and inclusive approach instead.

“We wanted to come up with something that’s fun for everyone and can cater to late nights on Fourth,” Cans Deli and Tallboys owner Ben Schneider said in a press release.

The updated menu will launch on Tuesday, July 17. Cuisine influences range from all over the world with an emphasis on cooking from scratch, while bread is provided from Monsoon Chocolate.

Cans Deli on Fourth Ave. Menu Highlights

  • Reuben – six-day brined corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and Russian dressing on rye
  • Tucson Philly – carne asada, jack queso, grilled peppers and onions and spicy escabeche on baguette
  • Chicken Latkewich – shredded chicken, sambal, latke, apple chutney, sour cream and slaw on a potato bun
  • Classic Tuna Melt – house-smoked albacore tuna salad, cheddar, tomato, arugula and sprouts on sourdough (served open-faced)
  • Pork Belly Banh Mi – house-smoked pork belly, cucumber, slaw, cilantro, pickled serranos and creamy sambal sauce on baguette
  • Falafel Wrap – falafel, hummus, tomato, red onion, greens, pickle and tzatziki in pita

The Reuben, Tucson Philly, and Banh Mi are all available in a vegan version utilizing ingredients like pastrami-style beets, seitan asada, and marinated seared tofu. Additional vegan offerings include a vegan charcuterie board, a “CLT” with bacon-style crunchy carrots, and a vegan Eegee’s-inspired grinder with an herby cashew “cheez.”

Gluten-free options include the smoked wings tossed in tangy barbecue sauce, quinoa tabbouleh-topped salad, Reuben Fries, Middle Eastern falafel plate, and the Smoke Show, Cans’ take on a barbecue plate.

Cans’ kitchen is open until 2 a.m. daily.

Cans Deli is located at 340 N. Fourth Ave. For more information, visit canstucson.com.

@Sonoranrestaurantweek runs from September 4 through 13, 2026, and it’s the perfect excuse to pair a day of Tucson sightseeing with a prix fixe meal. Since the Old Pueblo packs desert trails, historic missions, art districts, and a UNESCO City of Gastronomy designation into one metro area, visitors can easily build a full day around any interest and land near a Restaurant Week stop when it’s time to eat.

Swipe to see six itineraries built around Tucson’s core attractions, each paired with nearby restaurants participating in this year’s event. Menus and prices are subject to change, so it’s worth confirming details on the Sonoran Restaurant Week website before heading out.@Sonoranrestaurantweek runs from September 4 through 13, 2026, and it’s the perfect excuse to pair a day of Tucson sightseeing with a prix fixe meal.
