California-based ‘Cookie Plug’ to open its first of 3 Tucson locations

California-based ‘Cookie Plug’ to open its first of 3 Tucson locations

Like something you’d see Tim Allen munchin’ down on in the Disney film “The Santa Clause,” these cookies oughta fit right in at your holiday gatherings this year.

Cookie Plug, a cookie company that combines graffiti, street art, and hip-hop culture to manifest its own twist on cookies, is moving in at 446 N. Campbell Ave. It’s right there on the corner of Campbell Avenue and Sixth Street, next to Cheba Hut, and is the first of three locations.

“We stepped out of the kitchen and into the streets. There we were, inspired by graffiti and street art. Paired with hip-hop culture, the Cookie Plug brand was born. We then put a twist on cookies that have never been seen before. In less than three years, 25 locations are slangin’ dope cookies.”

Like the other locations around the country, the spot on Campbell, which is expected to open on Friday, December 16, will be decked out with street art-themed graffiti on the walls and music blasting to “create a vibe that is unmatched” — a fun atmosphere to enjoy their “fat stacks.”

Cookie Plug will offer more than 15 unique flavors like the very vibrant Purple Haze flavor, and all of their cookies are 100% kid-friendly (do not contain any cannabis, THC, or CBD). From the looks of it, they don’t regularly offer vegan cookies but they do have a few keto options on the menu.

Here are a few of Cookie Plug’s sweet highlights:

In October 2022, Cookie Plug announced that Chief Development Officer, Chris Wyland, transitioned into the role of Chief Executive Officer for the fast-growing cookie concept based out of Southern California.

“It’s a great honor and privilege to take on this leadership opportunity as we set our sights on the future of the brand,” said Wyland, CEO of Cookie Plug.

Cookie Plug is located at 446 N. Campbell Ave. The other two Tucson locations haven’t been announced yet but stay tuned for details as they come out of the oven. For more information, visit cookieplug.com and follow Cookie Plug on Instagram

More about Matt

At a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.

He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.

If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.

@Talegacoffee at 177 N. Church Ave. transforms into @_Velvetcowboy after 4 pm, bringing cocktails, tapas, disco lights, and a lively bar atmosphere to the same space. The dual concept comes from the team behind Talega Coffee Co., with coffee and scratch-made breakfast and lunch served during the day, followed by happy hour and bar service at night.

Velvet Cowboy’s grand opening is Oct. 16, with upcoming events including drag brunches, DJs, and live music.🪩

“Opening this place feels a little surreal. To now have a space where we can bring together coffee, food, art, booze, and all the weird things we love feels like a reflection of how far we’ve come.” —Tyler Melo
