When Contigo Latin Kitchen partners Deborah Tenino and Nicholas Kreutz first announced their plans to open Locale Neighborhood Italian it got eaters excited. Stomachs were grumbling and fists were pumping to the thought of an authentic Italian restaurant on the corner of Broadway and Alvernon.
Since its opening, many have flocked to Locale and the popularity of its bakery and coffee shop is its own success story in the making.

So, let’s talk about the “Daily Deals” available in the dining room, though, at Locale, which occur every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The specials include bargains on pasta, pizza, and there’s even a burger and beer combo to get you zipping toward the weekend.
Tuesday / Neighborhood Night
On this day, if you buy one pasta dish you’ll get another for just $12. Each of the meals range from $14 – $17 so you’re getting a mighty fine deal on your desired noodles.
For example, order up a Lasagna, filled with beef ragu, grana padano, and béchamel, and then score a plate of Tagliatelle, which consists of egg pasta, bolognese, and grana padano, at a lesser price.

Wednesday / Burger and Beer Combo
A burger, a beer, and a good time. Delizioso!
Some argue that there’s no better combination than a burger and beer, and when it comes to Locale’s dynamic duo on Wednesday, you’re in for a treat. The burger is topped with Fiscalini cheese, honey mustard, and aioli, and then served with a side of truffle fries. The beer, well, you’ve got a selection of at least four craft beers — one being a rotator.
You can get the combo for $20 a person.
Thursday / Roman Night
When in Rome, you do as the Romans, right? So, here in Tucson, you do as Tucsonans tend to do at Italian restaurants — eat a lot of pizza.
On Thursday, snag yourself a slice of pizza and a salad for $12. Locale’s slices are Roman-style pizzas, meaning they’re rectangular and a little on the crispy side. The current menu offers Country Bacon, Meatball, Pear, Pepperoni, Margherita, and Foraged pizza slices.

Locale Neighborhood Italian is open for lunch and dinner from 11:30 a.m. – 9 p.m. on Tuesday – Sunday and is located at 60 N. Alvernon Way. For more information, call (520) 398-7549 or visit localetucson.com.

Matt Sterner
More about MattAt a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.
He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.
If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.
