8 restaurants for escargot in Tucson

Jul 12, 20192 min read

Do you love garlic bread? Well, escargot are the next step.

Most of the Italian and French preparations of snails in Tucson feature a gratuitous amount of garlic butter along with some form of bread for dipping. The snails themselves add a tender bite similar to mushrooms.

Below are eight restaurants to eat escargot in Tucson. While some Mexican seafood restaurants also sell snails, this article focuses on garlic buttery escargot.

Bazil’s

4777 E. Sunrise Dr.

A Foothills staple, Bazil’s recently celebrated their 40-year anniversary. Their Escargot features roasted garlic, butter, and Gorgonzola, served with toasted crostini.

For the Charro Escargot, Charro del Rey takes the classic French combination of escargots and garlic butter, then adds a Sonoran twist with their signature carne seca. Don’t forget to squirt the lemon over everything.

Dante’s Fire

2526 E. Grant Rd.

Dante’s Fire takes the classic route with their Escargot — snails, white wine, and garlic butter, served with grilled crostini.

Dolce Vita

1800 E. Fort Lowell Rd. #168

Dolce Vita offers two varieties: the classic Oven Baked Escargot and the Oven Baked Escargot in Mushroom Caps with Mozzarella.

Order the Escargots a la Bourguignonne, only available on Ghini’s Friday and Saturday dinner menu. The snails swim in a pool of garlic butter with artichoke hearts and Parmesan. Get some extra house-made bread to make sure none of that butter goes to waste.

Jonathan’s Cork

6320 E. Tanque Verde Rd.

An east side classic, Jonathan’s Cork keeps their Escargot classic with garlic, shallots, wine, and butter served with bread.

With the Escargots au Chablis at Le Rendez-vous, bright and acidic Chablis wine helps balance out the richness of the garlic butter.

@Pueblovida is closing its original downtown taproom this fall, 12 years after opening, and moving next door to a larger space at 121 E. Broadway Blvd.

The new taproom will seat 100+ guests and feature 14 taps, a curated wine program and, for the first time, a restaurant. Chef Scott Girod of @Anello_pizzeria will open a new restaurant in the shared space, expected to follow the taproom’s late fall 2026 opening in early 2027.

“This taproom has always been more than four walls. It’s where we’ve celebrated milestones, introduced hundreds of new beers, watched friendships grow and built a community we’re incredibly grateful for. While we’re excited about what’s next, it’s impossible not to feel sentimental about saying goodbye to the place where it all happened.” — @Pueblovida Co-founder Linette Antillon

After 13 years, Agustín Kitchen has permanently closed its doors at Mercado San Agustín.

The space already has its next chapter lined up. Il Santo, an Italian concept from hospitality veteran Vito Prencipe and fifth-generation Tucsonan Bonnie Callahan, will take over the space.

“I leave this chapter with mixed emotions as I say goodbye to our friends, patrons and colleagues at Agustín Kitchen. It’s with gratitude and admiration that I thank our managers, chefs, staff, and purveyors both old and new for their years of collaboration. Agustin Kitchen has meant so much to so many over this time and has been a beloved anchor in the Mercado District community.” — Owner Adam Weinstein
