Daily Dining Suggestions: Fresh Ideas On Where & What To Eat Delivered To Your Inbox

Feb 16, 20161 min read

It’s a scenario that has been going on since prehistoric times. It goes something like this:

PERSON 1: “Where do you want to eat?”

PERSON 2: “I don’t know. Where do you want to eat?”

Of course, that’s a highly condensed version of the exchange, as it’s easy to get caught in an endless back and forth until both parties are frustrated, starving, and still clueless about where to go.

Enter Daily Dining Suggestions. It’s a new feature we’ll be rolling out to (at first) a small number of special and select food-loving fanatics.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Sign up for the Daily Dining Suggestion via email or text (currently only email is available)
  2. Receive the Daily Dining Suggestion via email or text (currently only email is available)
  3. Visit the Daily Dining Suggestion or mention it as a possibility when appropriate (see above exchange)

That’s it. Eventually we’ll want some feedback, but it’ll be light feedback.

The suggestions are not randomly selected but expertly curated with suggestions for where to eat and what to order for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

IOU Sushi III has closed. The all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant on North Oracle Road announced the news on Facebook after about 10 years in Tucson. “This is the hardest post I’ve had to write,” the owners said. The post continued, “we have met some great friends who have become family to us.” Tucson Foodie first visited the restaurant in 2017, when it operated as IOU Sushi IV.

Anne Rysdale built @sheltercocktaillounge in 1961 with concrete walls, lava rock, and Cold War nerves. Today, owners Pam Santangelo and Kevin Breutzmann keep the Tucson bar exactly as regulars remember it. Inside, martinis share space with JFK memorabilia, a vintage atomic chandelier, and a suit of armor named Charlie. “Tucson is changing so much, but this has stayed the same. It’s a time capsule,” Santangelo said.
